Practice

My weakness has always been proper proportions of the human body and figure drawing. So I’ve been doing some exercises to imprint the formulas in my brain, like so:

But it’s more fun to just sit down and draw stuff that comes to your head, constantly challenging your skills, no matter how weird the result is:

I love Yuzawaya

I live in Tokyo, Japan and we all know the Japanese sure like to draw a lot, from calligraphy to manga. There is a chain of stores called Yuzawaya that sell everything from stationary, artist supplies, paints, sketchbooks, etc. I love going there and browsing aimlessly. Today I went there and blew some considerable cash on Staedler’s mechanical pencil and some sketchbooks. Quick test:

… and here’s something I dreamed about last night, haha. This dude is connected to some unknown machinery and doesn’t really need anything from the outside world. Escape from reality? (click for larger view)

Hey there unknown reader. I started drawing and sketching recently, after a long break, and I’m currently practicing skulls and proper proportions of the human head.
